Arbela Labs, in conjunction with its partner Rutgers Aquaculture Innovation Center (AIC), has conclusively demonstrated that brine shrimp (Artemia) can thrive on a proprietary Pichia yeast diet with survivability and growth equivalent to that of standard but more expensive algae feed. Given that Artemia are crustaceans, this successful demonstration strongly suggests that Pichia based feeds are suitable for farmed white-legged shrimp and other commercially grown shrimp/crustaceans. It should be noted that Artemia itself is presently used as a intermediary feed for juvenile farmed white-legged shrimp and farmed finfish.
